THE FARM WINES

THE FARM is a 10-acre vineyard in Niagara’s Twenty Mile Bench, planted to Pinot Noir.  The Neudorf vineyard was originally planted with Pinot Noir in 2000 for Le Clos Jordanne and aptly named “La Petite Colline”, meaning “little hill”, a nod to the gentle slopes that permeate the plot. The project was led by renowned winemaker, Thomas Bachelder, now a close friend of the Neudorf family.  The vineyard was farmed organically from the get-go, a decision that remains a pillar of the Neudorf approach.

The property is rooted in traditions of gathering family & friends, and where Peter and Dora Neudorf call home .

The cellar door opens once a year for guests to taste new releases, and enjoy live music and local food.

THE FARM Chardonnay 2023

Made from hand picked Chardonnay from the Twenty Mile Bench and Creekshores sub-appellations. The combination of limestone based, silty soils of the escarpment and sedimentary glacial deposits of the Iroquois Plain produce a powerful and richly textured Chardonnay balanced by stony minerality and vibrant acidity. Hand-picked and whole cluster pressed to French oak puncheons and stainless steel where the juice underwent a long and cool spontaneous fermentation to capture the nuance of both vineyards and full malo-lactic fermentation. Aged for 10 months on lees prior to blending, then aged for an additional 6 months in tank and bottled unfiltered in The Farm cellar.

THE FARM Poolhouse Rosé 2024

This Rosé is made from 100% Gamay grown in the Creekshores sub-appellation. The grapes were picked in the cool, early morning hours and macerated on skins for 5 hours before gentle pressing. The juice was clarified to preserve its aromatic potential and fermented in stainless to highlight its natural varietal characteristics. Fermented bone dry to showcase a balanced mouthwatering acidity with an array of red fruit and citrus aromatics.

THE FARM Pinot Noir Black label 2023

This Pinot Noir is blended from terroirs across the Niagara Peninsula, Twenty Mile Bench, Short Hills Bench, and Creekshores sub-appellations of West Niagara, using “fruit from friends”. The fruit was hand-picked with each lot fermented separately and aged in 228-liter French oak barriques for 16 months. A warm spring in 2023 led to early bud break with periods of extreme heat and heavy rainfall throughout the growing season. A window of warm and dry conditions in September provided ideal ripeness for a classic Niagara Pinot Noir vintage. Our Black Label benefited from the grower’s dedication to provide quality fruit in this blend, showcasing brambly red fruits, black cherry, dried herbs with a savory, flinty edge. Blended and bottled unfiltered in The Farm cellar.

THE FARM White Label Pinot Noir 2022

The Farm White Label is a selection of the finest barrels from the 2022 vintage. Composed from three vineyards, including a small amount from the original plantings on the Neudorf farm. Heavy autumn rains in 2021 followed by a sudden cold snap and severe winter weather caused significant damage to grapevines across the peninsula. As a result, the crop was significantly reduced in 2022. Despite these challenges, the growing season progressed favourably, allowing for ideal physiological ripeness at harvest and exceptional Pinot Noir fruit. The 2022 season marked a bittersweet moment in the Farm’s legacy and is the final vintage from the established original vineyard. Aged in 228 litre barriques (90% neutral) for 15 months and bottled unfiltered in The Farm cellar.
